Sonatest has had heavy involvement in the petrochemical industry for many years where its products find widespread use in measuring corrosion wall loss and weld inspection. One of the company's first innovative and highly successful products, which was introduced in the late 70s, was the UFDS 'Dry- Scan' flaw detector that used a dry-coupled wheeled probe. More recently the company has introduced a range of digital ultrasonic flaw detectors, which alleviate many of the problems of system calibration and defect recording.
